How to distinguish paper patterns

The so-called paper silk thread refers to the grain of the paper fiber structure, that is, the direction of the fibrous tissue arrangement. Where the paper roll is made parallel to the running direction of the paper making machine in the longitudinal direction of the paper, the perpendicular direction to the running direction of the paper making machine is the transverse direction of the paper.

Generally, the width direction of the web is transverse fibers, the circumferential direction of the web is longitudinal, and the longitudinal tensile strength of the paper is high, which can satisfy the tension requirement of the high-speed movement of the printing machine, and is not prone to breakage. Malady.

The width direction of the flat sheet is also transverse fiber, and the slit paper length of the web length is vertical. Under normal circumstances, 787 * 1092mm; 850 * 1168mm; 889 * 1194cm and 880 * 1230mm, etc., written in front of the horizontal paper, such as the 787 specification is the horizontal paper.

Due to the different directionality of different papers, there are significant differences in the amount of expansion and contraction due to the temperature and humidity of the environment. In general, the vertical extension and contraction of paper is small, and the lateral expansion and contraction change greatly, and it is easy to curl and deform. Therefore, the directionality of the paper will have a direct impact on the printing register and the quality of the packaging. For example, the misuse of the direction of the paper mark on the beer label may cause wrinkling and warping of the label. It can be seen that it is very important to correctly understand the silkiness of paper.

There are many ways to identify paper strands, such as mechanical identification, but more often than not, they are manually identified by experience.

1. Tearing method When the paper is not creased, both hands naturally tear the paper in the opposite direction. The fissures that are more straight are longitudinal filaments, and the fissures that are clearly corrugated are transverse filaments.

2. Pull the two sides of the paper with both hands and pull outwards. It is horizontal paper that is easy to tear, and longitudinal paper is not easy to tear.

3. Hand Law Enforcement Cut about 100mm x 10mm strips of paper in different directions in the paper. Hold one end of the paper with your fingers and let the plane of the strip stick out horizontally to see its free bending. The more severe the bending is the horizontal filaments, and the straighter ones are the longitudinal filaments.

4. Turn over the law enforcement on the entire pile of paper stacks, and turn the paper in different directions to the opposite side, release the hand and automatically reset the paper edge. After the paper edge is reset, it is the horizontal paper edge that maintains a firm shape; on the contrary, the larger gap is the vertical paper edge.

5. Water Drop Method For paper without sizing, place the paper flat on the table and place a drop of water on the paper surface. The shape of the water droplets spread out is oval. The major axis of the ellipse is the longitudinal edge, and the vertical edge is the transverse edge.

6. The soaking method tears the paper into a round or square shape and soaks it in water. When the paper surface absorbs moisture, it curls quickly. One side of the curl is a lateral strand, and the other side is a vertical strand.

7. Nail sliding method Use nails to slide along the vertical and horizontal directions of the paper once. If the vertical direction is wavy, there is no change in the left and right direction, indicating that this piece of paper is a longitudinal silkworm; on the contrary, it is a horizontal wire.

8. Measure mechanically. Cut the paper strips in different directions according to the rules. Test the paper's ring pressure strength, bending strength, tensile strength, etc. with a paper testing machine. Papers with a large test value are longitudinal filaments; otherwise, they are transverse filaments.

Correctly recognizing and discriminating the silkiness of paper, and scientifically and rationally using paper texture for printing, will have a good effect on improving the accuracy of product overprinting and the quality of trademark labeling process.
