How to improve the life of the squeegee

Flexographic technology can bring more economical in-line coating solutions to sheetfed printers.

As a long-term technology used in flexo printing, the anilox roller inking system has been increasingly favored by sheet-fed offset printing plants and used as a specialized coating unit. However, the anilox roll coating system differs from other parts on sheetfed offset printing in that it requires special care. Therefore, we must use special flexible cleaning and squeegee cleaning to maximize the performance of this system, thereby achieving the purpose of improving coating quality and saving cost.

The anilox roller has fine and neat lines on its surface, so it can accurately control the amount of paint transferred from the blanket to the substrate, thus ensuring the stability of the coating. However, if the paint remains in the texture of the anilox roll, it will not be able to transfer the exact paint out, and the proper coating thickness cannot be guaranteed. Inconsistent coating thickness, unstable quality, low paint consumption, and uneven coating density and coverage are signals that the anilox roll needs cleaning. Therefore, regular cleaning of the anilox roller to ensure that the ink hole is clean and refreshed can significantly reduce equipment downtime and waste.

Combine daily cleaning, weekly cleaning and regular deep cleaning to help get the best anilox cleaning. Normally, we can add concentrated cleaning agents to the automatic cleaning system of the printing press to perform effective daily cleaning of the anilox roll and prevent paint from accumulating in the ink cavity. Simply washing with water does not prevent the coating from becoming hard and plugging the pores, so we use a cleaning paste or cleaning agent to clean the anilox at least once a week and use brushes to remove the stubborn resin, pigments, and pigments from the bottom of the cavity. Glue and so on. In addition, it is best to clean the anilox roller once or twice a year (using plastic brushes, ultrasonics, chemical cleaning, or baking soda technology) to remove those residues that cannot be cleaned by routine maintenance procedures.

The life of the squeegee

It is worth noting that the user's choice of squeegee also affects the quality of the coating. At present, many printing companies use composite squeegees instead of the original metal squeegee to achieve uniform coating and save money. The current composite squeegee not only has the same performance as a steel squeegee, but also can extend the service life by a factor of four. Its advantages are mainly the following:

Reduce the number of tool changes and increase the working time of the equipment

Keep the coating stable and consistent

Reducing the damage of the anilox roller and prolonging the life of the anilox roller

Reduce the chance of operator injury

Reduce paint consumption

The composite squeegee has a lower friction coefficient than the metal squeegee, so its service life is longer. Slower wear of the squeegee will help maintain the integrity of the anilox roll - and it will also be very helpful in controlling the thickness of the coating. In addition, the composite squeegee not only adapts to the ever-increasing production speed, but also is compatible with matte, metallic, pearlescent, and UV-based coatings containing special ingredients.

This machine has washing, filling, capping three functions in one body, total process is automatic, and it is suitable for mineral water, pure water, juice, tea drink and other non-gas containing drink filling. It is made of high quality SUS304 stainless steel. Main components are processed precisely by CNC machine tool. The machine adopts advanced photoelectricity to detect running status. No bottle no filling. it is possible to realize man-machine conversation because of applying touch screen for operation.
