ABB launches new miniature circuit breaker in Huaqiang

Beijing, China, September 6, 2003 – ABB, the world’s leading power and automation technology group, today announced the solemn launch of the S260 Series miniature circuit breakers in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the company’s invention of miniature circuit breakers.
"80 years ago, ABB invented the world's first miniature circuit breaker. In the past 80 years, ABB has become one of the world's leading suppliers of miniature circuit breakers," said ABB China Senior Vice President and Head of Automation Technology Division. Veli-Matti Reinikkala said, "The launch of the new S260 series in China demonstrates our strong determination to share ABB's advanced technology, expertise and more than 100 years of professional experience with our Chinese partners."
Miniature circuit breakers can be used in low-voltage electrical systems as overload and short-circuit protection for wire and cable, switchgear, and electrical equipment.
The technology of the S260 series comes from the German ABB STOTZ company. It uses a modular design to make the operation of the user safe and easy. The S260 series is the mainstream product of the ABB S2 miniature circuit breaker series and has now passed the China Compulsory Certification.
The newly launched S260 series miniature circuit breakers will be put into production at ABB Beijing Low Voltage Electric Co., Ltd., which was established in 1994 and specializes in the production and design of low voltage electrical appliances.
ABB offers a full range of miniature circuit breakers with a breaking capacity of 3KA to 50KA and a rated current of 0.5A to 125A. To date, ABB has a total of more than 10 miniature circuit breaker production facilities all over the world, making it one of the world leaders in this industry.
