David Hicks, an ardent supporter of sleek, well-thought-out spaces paired with an elegant and sophisticated layering of decor, has redefined modern design and crafted a unique global style that has earned him widespread acclaim and consistent demand. His ability to blend functionality with beauty has set him apart in the world of interior design.
David Hicks was born in Australia but spent much of his childhood in Malaysia. Upon returning home, he pursued his lifelong passion for interior design by enrolling at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), where he graduated with honors in Interior Design. Early on, Hicks worked for some of Australia's leading architecture and interior design firms before founding the renowned David Hicks Design Studio in 2000. Over time, this studio has grown into Australia's premier brand for luxury-focused interior and architectural design.
Throughout his career, David Hicks has garnered numerous national and international accolades, including the FX International Design Awards, Belle Coco Republic Design Awards, IDEA Awards, Australian Interior Design Awards, and the Dulux Colour Awards. His work has been showcased in top-tier design publications worldwide, such as Architectural Digest, Belle, Case da Abitare, Elle Decoration UK, Vogue Living, and Wallpaper, among others. One of his early projects, his own apartment, even made the cover of Elle Decoration UK.
David Hicks has been a keynote speaker at major national and international trade shows and educational institutions. He has also appeared on popular TV shows like Channel 9's "A Current Affair" as a design expert and as a guest judge on "HomeMADE" and "The Block." In November 2016, Hicks published his first book, titled "Intimate – A Private World of Interiors," with the renowned international publisher Thames & Hudson.
