A solid wood children’s bed can cost over 8,970 yuan, while a similar-sized adult bed may cost less than 2,000 yuan. Salespeople explained that the higher price is due to stricter design and material requirements, such as lower formaldehyde emissions. A report from one store showed that its furniture emitted only 0.5 mg/L of formaldehyde, well below the 1.5 mg/L limit set for children’s products.
While bright colors and playful designs attract children, they often contain higher levels of lead and other harmful substances. Experts advise parents to avoid overly colorful or flashy furniture and instead opt for natural materials like solid wood.
