Supporting Zoe’s Place
If you haven't heard of Zoe’s Place, you're missing out on one of the most inspiring charities in the UK. This incredible organization provides specialized palliative and end-of-life care for babies and young children aged 0 to 5 who are facing terminal illnesses. But it's not just about the kids — Zoe’s Place also offers ongoing support to their families, giving them strength and hope during some of the toughest times.
With three locations across the UK, including one in Coventry — where Kite Packaging has its online operations and major account business — Zoe’s Place is making a real difference. However, funding is a huge challenge. The Coventry hospice, like all Others, relies heavily on donations as government support is minimal. Each hour of care costs around £25, which makes running 24/7 services extremely difficult. That’s why Kite decided to step up and help raise funds for this vital cause.
It all started with a group of brave Kite employees from our Midlands branch. They took on the Wolf Run, a tough 10K obstacle course that includes forests, lakes, and fields. The event was held on 6th September 2014, and our team, known as the “Wolf Pack,†aimed to raise £250. In the end, they exceeded their goal by reaching £300 — enough to provide 12 hours of care at Zoe’s Place through the 'Open Doors Appeal.'
Seeing the team come together for such a meaningful cause was truly inspiring. It reminded us how important it is to support each other, both as colleagues and as people. As an employee-owned company, we believe in helping our partners whenever possible. That’s why we organized a Kite Barbeque on 22nd August to add to the fundraising efforts.
The event was a hit! We invited everyone to join us for burgers in our garden (even if it wasn’t the sunniest day), and all the food was donated by the company. The menu came from Aubrey Allen, a local award-winning supplier based in Leamington, and our Managing Partner, Gavin Ashe, even put on an apron to cook for the team!
Not only was it a great way to bring the team together, but it also helped raise an extra £177 for Zoe’s Place. That brought the total to a proud £477.00 — a small but significant contribution to a life-changing cause.
After the barbeque, the Wolf Pack was ready to tackle the real challenge. On the day of the event, they were all set — here's a photo of them before the run:
And here's how they looked after:
They definitely got muddy — and that’s exactly what you’d expect from a 10K obstacle course! Crawling through mud, swimming in lakes, and navigating dense woodland, they showed incredible determination. A huge round of applause to the Wolf Pack for their hard work and commitment to such a noble cause.
