I. Construction Method of Water Supply System for Tennis Courts
A well-maintained tennis court requires a clean, quiet, and dust-free environment. To ensure proper maintenance and usage, the water supply system must be reliable and efficient. Natural grass courts require regular irrigation, while artificial turf or other surfaces also need adequate watering facilities to keep the playing surface in good condition. Ideally, venues should have sufficient tap points installed for easy access to potable water. The layout of rotating nozzles and the water pipe network is illustrated in Figure 5.6 below. The depth of buried water pipes should be placed below the frost line in the region to prevent freezing damage. When designing the water supply network, it's important to create a natural slope for drainage. At the lowest point of the slope, a backwater interceptor should be installed. This helps manage shallow water accumulation and prevents damage from frozen pipes caused by improper design. A university site once experienced cracked water pipes due to a mistake in the backwater gate, which serves as an important lesson for future projects.
II. Drainage Construction Methods for Tennis Courts
Effective drainage is crucial for maintaining the quality of a tennis court. The primary method of drainage involves using a surface cross-slope, which should not exceed 0.5% to ensure proper water runoff. Water flows through open drains located around the perimeter of the court and then channels into the main municipal drainage system. The layout of the main drainage lines is shown in Figure 5.7.1. Typically, the center of the court is the highest point, allowing water to flow outward toward the edges. The drainage ditches are positioned outside the fence and covered with cast iron grates to prevent debris from clogging the system. This design ensures that rainwater and excess irrigation water are efficiently removed, maintaining a safe and playable surface at all times.
